Killer of Sheep

Add Review/Comment
Charles Burnett has given the world powerful stories and images from African-American life that would be ignored by more exploitative directors. In KILLER OF SHEEP Stan is a family man and a sensitive man being destroyed by his dehumanizing work in a slaughterhouse. He finds momentary respite in dancing with his wife in their home or in holding his daughter, but for the most part he is eaten up with money problems and the general unfairness of life in mid-70s Watts. Chosen as one of the first 50 films deemed a “national treasure” for the National Film Registry.
