Celebrate the Fourth of July in air-conditioning with a band concert, sing-along favorites, and great marches performed by THE NEW HORIZONS BAND of Austin under the director of Glenn Richter, Longhorn Band director from 1980 to 1995. He is currently Professor of Instrumental Conducting at The University of Texas at Austin.

The New Horizons Band offers people, approaching and over the age of 50, the opportunity to play in a large band as well as smaller ensemble such as stage bands, polka bands, Dixieland bands, and chamber music groups. The band is affiliated with the New Horizons International Music Association that has over 1200 bands, orchestras and choruses throughout the United States, Canada and Ireland. The Austin chapter was founded in 1998 and currently has more than 50 members.

Patriotic favorites to be sung by the audience are: America the Beautiful, You're a Grand Old Flag, America, This Land is Your Land, and God Bless America. The choir will sing a medley of songs of our Armed Forces: Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, and Coast Guard. All military personnel in attendance – active duty, retired, reserve, and National Guard – will be recognized at the concert, and a slide presentation will be presented with friends and members of the St. Matthew's community.
