Bemba Entertainment will continue to lead the multicultural movement in this beautiful city by hosting a cruise on Lake Austin featuring World Beat music and fun. Bacardi has jumped on board with our mission to create more of a culturally diverse city. What better way to introduce people to other cultures than to do it in the good ol Austin Summer time fashion.
This is the first of a 4 part Summer series that Bemba, Bacardi, and SUP ATX will collaborate on. Every last Thursday of June thru September, World Beat Cruise will take place on The Lone Star Riverboat on Lady Bird Lake. Load in is at 7pm by the South First bridge next to Auditorium Shores. Departure is 7:30pm and will return at 10:30pm. Each outing will have a live World beat band and a DJ. On Thursday, June 24th Hard Proof Afrobeat will perform and DJ Aquaman will keep the mood swirling.
Featuring sounds from congas, an electric guitar, a tenor sax, and a host of other instruments, Hard Proof is a diverse group of sounds and talent influenced by “All things funky from south of the Sahara”, has a unique sound characterized by heavy horns and mixed rhythms. http://www.myspace.com/hardproofafrobeat
DJ Aquaman is back again as Bemba reunites the Afrobeat team for one heavy beat filled boat ride.
Load in is at 7pm and departure is 7:30pm. Boat will arrive back at the dock at 10:30pm. Admission is just $25 online and $35 at the gate. Tickets can be purchased at Nowplayingaustin.com
