Presented in partnership with the Austin Classical Guitar Society and the Butler School of Music

Texas Performing Arts presents an exquisite evening of Mozart performed by the incomparable Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Orchestra with renowned pianist Jonathan Biss.

During the past 50 years, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields has become one of the worlds most in-demand chamber orchestras. Known for its superlative performances and award-winning recordings (over 500), the Academy maintains a busy international concert schedule. Alongside its performances with Sir Neville Marriner, Artistic Director Kenneth Sillito collaborates with some of today’s most thrilling musicians, including Murray Perahia, Joshua Bell, Julia Fischer, Julian Rachlin, Janine Jansen, and Anthony Marwood.

American pianist Jonathan Biss is an exceptional musician with a flourishing international reputation through his orchestral, recital, and chamber music performances in North America and Europe -- and through his award-winning recordings. Noted for his prodigious technique, intriguing programs, and artistic maturity, Mr. Biss performs a diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart and Beethoven, through the Romantics to Janá?ek and Schoenberg as well as works by contemporary composers, including commissions from Leon Kirchner and Lewis Spratlan.

“The comfortingly precise and streamlined sound of the Academy — the very embodiment of the classical music establishment — sounded newly alert and alive.” - San Francisco Chronicle

“Biss has all the technique required, yet he unfailingly puts the composer first. Such is the strength and conviction of his playing that the music unfolds with a natural-sounding inevitability…Warmly recommended.” - BBC Music Magazine
