AMOA's New Works exhibition series introduces fresh contemporary art by innovative Austin artists. Known nationally for her functional ceramics, Austin artist Sunyong Chung pushes into new territory with two monumental sculptures that present new ways of contemplating nature. One Year (2008-2009), a 9-foot circular solid covered in colored porcelain tiles, and The Dance (2010), an 8-foot suspended pendulum of steel and paper, celebrate the cosmic, the earthly, and the everyday human experience. New Works: Sunyong Chung is the third in AMOA’s New Works series, which introduces fresh contemporary art by local artists who are pushing their creativity into a new level or direction. The exhibition will be open to the public May 22 – August 15, 2010.
