AMOA DALLAS ART TREK DAYTRIP guided by Dana Friis-Hansen

ABOUT THE DAY The Austin Museum of Art has developed a wonderful opportunity to view some of the most spectacular private collections in Texas. We will also stop in the city's art district where you will explore highlights of the Dallas Museum of Art or the Nasher Sculpture Center with AMOA Director: Dana Friis-Hansen.

We'll see major early 20th century artists and recent artists inspired by them such as David Bates, at the home of Debbie and Eric Green.

Mid-century modern works by Helen Frankenthaler and Alberto Giacometti, and more contemporary works by Stephen Balkenhol and Tara Donovan and many others make up the Jennifer and John Eagle collection.

Nona and Richard Barrett who distinguished themselves for their Texas contemporary art collection, now collect amazing late 19th and early 20th century Swiss art, adding an unexpected twist to our journey of discovery.

Just as stunning as the art on view is the splendor of a very special piece of architectural history. We will visit an amazing 1956 Edward Durrell Stone complex recently added to the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Featured in Architectural Digest after its careful renovation, the home is modeled after the American Embassy in New Delhi.
