St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church presents an ecumenical, contemplative service with music performed by the Conspirare Symphonic Choir under the direction of artistic director Craig Hella Johnson. A choral prelude at 5:00 p.m. precedes the service of sacred readings, silence, and music, ending at 6:15 p.m. The service is free and open to the public.

The service’s themes – Humility, Longing, Beloved Community, and Sustenance and Joy – are based on devotional texts by Christian authors David Foster Wallace and Keith Miller as well as Hebrews 4:12-16. The format will be a sequence of five-minute periods of silence, readings, and musical response by the choir.
