Dubbed Ireland’s “Inadvertent prophets of the world-music boom” by Rolling Stone Magazine, The Chieftains are recognized for bringing the rollicking, ebullient energy of traditional Irish music to the world’s attention. They have been honored in their own country by being officially named Ireland’s Musical Ambassadors and have broken many musical boundaries by performing with some of the biggest musicians in the world including Sting, Van Morrison, Roger Daltrey and Mick Jagger. After all these years of making some of the most beautiful music in the world, The Chieftains are never afraid to shock purists and push boundaries. They make music that has accumulated over centuries with a style that is as exhilarating as it is definitive so that it remains as fresh and relevant as when it first began.
