For the 2010 Centennial Celebration of Mexico’s Revolution and the Bicentennial Celebration of Mexico’s Independence, Mexic-Arte Museum will present the exhibition Imagining Mexico: Expressions in Popular Culture from Austin Collections to showcase art – incorporating national Mexican symbols – from popular art collections in Central Texas.

In 2010, Mexico and communities in the United States are slated to commemorate the Centennial of the Mexican Revolution and the Bicentennial of the Mexican Independence.  This is also a wonderful moment to interrogate the topics of identity formation, particularly those that have been created upon notions of nationalism and community ties.
