Come face the new year with an Old Fashioned (compliments of your hosts)and some high-passion world folk cabaret with streaks of Greek blues, Balkan gypsy rhythm and working-class fire... Nationally acclaimed playwright Ruth Margraff’s band Café Anastarsia serenades us after a staged reading of her new parlor play Over the Garden Wall.

Over the Garden Wall is performed as part of Works Progress Austin. Works Progress Austin (WPA), an annual development project, gives artists a playground to develop new works. Over the course of three weeks actors, writers, directors, dramaturges, and musicians are given the opportunity to incubate and experiment. Inspired by Roosevelt’s Works Projects Administration, SVT’s WPA aims to put artists to work. This January the WPA performances will span over three weeks.Come to the WPA and witness the construction of the future of American art!

      This is a work in progress so be prepared to use your imagination on how this could be a great production. All the performers have a tremendous amount of energy on display. The music performance... Expand

      This is a work in progress so be prepared to use your imagination on how this could be a great production. All the performers have a tremendous amount of energy on display. The music performance with the full band is fun to watch. It’s hard to get into some of the solo stuff as it starts off in the middle of a long story, but a good chance to brush up on your mythology.
