This unique, all-Austin production brings together onstage for the first time many of Austin’s celebrated talents and arts organizations including the Austin Lyric Opera, Austin Classical Guitar Society, Amazing Grace Gospel, Ballet Austin, James Bowie High School Silver Stars, River City Brass Quintet, Tapestry Dance Company and the Zachary Scott Theater Showstoppers, with special intermission performances by the St. Martin’s Ringers handbell choir and a video visit from KVUE’s Mark Murray. Want to introduce your children (or your adult selves) to a broad sampling of Austin artists and culture and have a great time (2 ½ hours), too? You can’t do better than “A Texas Christmas Carol” at the Long Center: River City Brass, James Bowie H.S. Silver Stars (24 teen dancers); folk-country-Latina star Tish Hinojosa, the youthful Zachary Scott Theatre Showstoppers, Ballet Austin, the Tapestry Dance Company, the Tosca Strong Quartet, members of Austin Lyric Opera (ALO), Austin Classical Guitar Ensemble, Amazing Grace Gospel choir and a rotating cast of special guest stars.
And the home-grown PBS team of “The Biscuit Brothers” – Allen Robertson and Jerome Schoolar with Jill “Buttermilk Biscuit” Leberknight, emcee this glorious holiday fare and keep the on-stage traffic moving smoothly with the help of attractive scrims and lighting
Whew! All that, plus some audience participation and “instant” Santa “construction” with a portion of ticket sales going to area (more)

The Long Center's A TEXAS CHRISTMAS CAROL is a family-pleasing, old-fashioned variety show featuring The Biscuit Brothers and Tish Hinojosa. The evening is packed with local talent from the high energy James Bowie H.S. Silver Stars to the Amazing Grace Gospel choir. You will certainly get in the spirit with songs from members of the Austin Lyric Opera Chorus and a nine-minute segment from Austin Ballet's version of “The Nutcracker.”
My personal favorite was the dancing, bell-ringing Christmas trees with cowboy boot "trunks" (The Tapestry Dance Company). This Christmas gift for charity is all wrapped up with a wish-come-true ending the kids will enjoy. Take your family and bring the Christmas spirit into the new year!

you will love this show. The circle of community is drawn closer by a broad cast of singers, dancers & actors, both professional & amateur, child & adult, who capture our hearts & spirits in this revue. The variety of music and dance is as broad as Texas itself and speaks highly of the caliber of talent we have among us. Take professional opera and ballet performers & pair them with professional jazz & folk singers; mix in a little tap dance, bell ringers & audience interaction; sprinkle with the delightful voices & movement of some very talented children & you have a magical evening created by the true Christmas spirit of being a community together. Plus Tish Hinojosa's beautiful voice always brings tears to my eyes. The Biscuit Brothers couldn't be any more brilliant. And the gospel singers--wow. Do yourself a favor & grab a handful of friends and family to see this special show this weekend. You'll also be doing a local children's charity a favor as every show is a benefit.
