There are so many things that make Jimmy Pardo damn funny--ranging from lotsa sharp, inventive material to being incredibly quick-on-his-feet and deft when improvising--but you could argue that the most singular, if not biggest weapon in his comedy arsenal is The Take. No matter what the context or setting--whether he’s hosting TV shows like “National Lampoon’s Funny money” (on the Game Show Network), co-hosting “Movies At Our House” (every Saturday on AMC), starring in his own half-hour special on Comedy Central, performing stand-up on “The Tonight Show,” appearing in an award-winning short film, “”Some Kinda Joke,” presenting his critically-acclaimed one-man show, “Attention Must Be Paid: The Jimmy Pardo Story,” or headlining a comedy club like Cap City--Pardo’s work is not only highlighted by a wonderfully expressive mug, but you could be excused for thinking he invented The Deadpan Expression, The Arched-Eyebrow Look Of Disdain, The Are-You-F**king-Kidding-Me Wide-Eyed Expression, or the Grin of Real (or Feigned) Surprise, among others. But, boy, combine those reactions--and we need to point out that, while some of these facial masterpieces are presented in response to things a contestant, guest or audience member has said, sometimes Pardo is reacting to things he himself says!--with top-drawer, refreshing material and a peppy, enormously-bright, often self-deprecating delivery, and you wind up with a big blast of invigorating hilarity. Not for nothing is his nickname “The Shooter,” and you’ll definitely want to have a seat at Cap City this week when he’s firing away. With Eric Krug
