This explosive new production of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer Prize-winning classic will have the summer sizzling.  Hypocrisy, greed, and hidden desires drive a wealthy Southern family to the brink in this American masterpiece. Delight in the characters Maggie “the Cat,” her alcoholic husband, Brick, and the dominating patriarch, Big Daddy, as they strip away the lies and do battle to preserve their portion of the family fortune. An unforgettable night of theatre.

      I very much enjoyed my evening at the City Theater. The staff was friendly and welcoming and the play was superb! The casting was excellent. Tim Brown did a phenomenal job as Brick and Maggie the Cat was mesmerizing...all of the roles were so believable. Definitely 5 stars! Collapse

      my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed "cat" last Sunday.The intense interplay between Big Daddy and Brick was captivating. All of the actors did an amazing job. Bravo !

      BRAVO!!!!! Great job by the entire cast and city theater. What a performance. My first time seeing a Tennessee Williams play and I believe if I have the chance to see "cat on a hot tin roof" in a different theater with a different cast, I'll pass because the shoes are now way to big. Once again the whole cast was awesome, but Tim Brown killed it as Brick. Collapse

      The lead actors in this production are fantastic. From Garry Peters' passionate portrayal of Big Daddy to Tim Brown's confused, whiskey-soaked has- been Brick to Rachel McGinnis' take on the desperate seductress Maggie. All really fell into their characters and made you forget that it's really not the 50's in the deep south. Sit back and enjoy the show! Collapse

      From the opening moments when Rachel McGinnis took the stage as Maggie the Cat I was enthralled. One of the juiciest and scariest roles for any experienced actress, she made you believe every moment... Expand

      From the opening moments when Rachel McGinnis took the stage as Maggie the Cat I was enthralled. One of the juiciest and scariest roles for any experienced actress, she made you believe every moment and had you rooting for her in every scene. And she really can slink just like a cat in heels! In short, a powerhouse performance! Gary Peters as Big Daddy was McGinnis' equal on stage in his bigger then the room presence and yet very nuanced portrayal of a self made man facing his physical demise in a room full of greedy off spring. The rest of the cast more then held their own. Tim Brown (Brick), Terri Merritt Bennett (Big Mama) and Samantha Brewer (Mae) in particular totally added to the authenticity of deep southern aristocracy. I applaud the director Jeff Hinkle for his excellent casting, all of the little touches that were true to the time and place while simply telling the story in this Tennesee Williams classic.       This is a small intimate theater which is perfect for this kind of play. The play takes place in a bedroom of the richest man in Mississippi. I was frankly disappointed in the set. , it appears to... Expand

      This is a small intimate theater which is perfect for this kind of play. The play takes place in a bedroom of the richest man in Mississippi. I was frankly disappointed in the set. , it appears to have been decorated from items culled from yard sale/2nd hand store leftovers. But, once the play began, I immediately forgot about the set and the acting was some of the best I've ever see. Maggie was a southern seductress that knows how to sashay with the best. Brick was incredible and then when Big Daddy shows up, I wondered where they found these wonderful actors and actresses. May's pregnant waddle and sharp sarcasm was spot on along with Big Momma in her cries of disbelief. If you've never seen the movie or the stage play, this is a must see as the characters in this Tennessee Williams play really bring it to life. If you have seen this in play or or movie before, I encourage you to see it before it's gone. Everyone in this play was outstanding! Collapse

      I enjoyed the show from the opening lobby music til the ending curtain call. I don't remember the last time I was so immersed into a performance. This show is a must see.

      What a phenomenal cast! Led by the always outstanding Garry Peters as Big Daddy with Rachel McGinnis and Tim Brown as the lead couple in southern sexual conflict. Bravo to City Theatre and entire company who brought Williams' emotionally powerful and richly beautiful play to Austin this summer. A must see! Collapse
