Imagine That Production presents its inaugural production, House of Several Stories: a tragedy in two acts of nonsense at Austin Playhouse, written and directed by A. John Boulanger. Thanksgiving isn’t what it used to be in the absurdist play about an eccentric family and their unusual guests. HOSS explores how stories (whether true, false, or borrowed) help fill the vacuum in our lives caused by death, loss, and dysfunction. HOSS garnered A. John Boulanger the honor of this year’s National Student Playwriting Award from the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival. The Austin premiere stars the incomparable talents of Lauren Lane, Martin Burke, Meredith McCall, Adam Pearson, Kelli Schultz with lighting by Jason Amato, costumes by Jillan Hanel, and set by Griffon Ramsey.

Fun, imaginative, raucous delight on the outside, with deep felt emotional trauma on the inside. It is the tastiest tootsie-pop of Austin Theatre.

Having seen most of these actors onstage in dramatic roles, this was a lovely opportunity to see them commit so fully to this theatre of the absurd. While I cannot claim to know exactly what happened... Expand
