      My husband and I saw this show yesterday in Austin and it was not good. I don't know what the producers were thinking putting Harvey Firestein in the main role, but he butchers every song. It was like nails on a chalk board. And the sad thing is that everyone else in the show was great! But we couldn't stand Harvey's voice so we had to leave after the first intermission. I would not recommend this show. Collapse

      Saw this performance last night at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco. Beautiful songs totally massacred by Harvey Fierstein. We were front and center (5 rows back) and Harvey's delivery was often unintelligible and all his attempts at comedy fell flat. Terrible performance by the lead and the 6 other understudies that were playing last night only assisted in turning a beautiful musical into a contrived shallow production. Susan Cella that played Golde was great. She saved the show for me. If you haven't bought a ticket yet, skip this production if Harvey Fierstein is Tevye! Collapse
