      Tim Conway is famous for his staring role on the Carol Burnett TV Show that ran during the height of the Vietnam war – yet the Burnett brand of comedy never strayed far from 1950's cultural sensibilities. His stand up routine on the Paramount stage is gentle, sweet, humourous and self-deprecating -- right in the 1950's dream world of centrist American culture. A dream that television shows broadcast successfully in the time when official codes of conduct and censorship maintained a vision of geniality and sexless good manners. Conway’s audience is aging, balding and white haired – and they loved him – laughing generously at his mild mannered humor. And, for all that, Conway on stage is better than the stuff we on television today. It is well worth the effort of leaving the house to experience a live theater evening in down town Austin. Kudos to the Paramount for bringing enjoyable entertainment to every demographic group -- thank goodness there is a place for senior humor. Collapse
