Faster Than the Speed of Light is a multimedia sci-fi musical journey of ukulele ballads, hip technology, sweeping string numbers, dramatic dance and classic story telling. With a production crew of more than twenty Austin professionals, this tale of a man torn between two worlds will come to life before your eyes.

      This was my second dose of the sci-fi musical this year (which I find interesting since I didn't know that the genre existed prior to Yellow Tape's Warpstar Sexysquad). In Faster Than the Speed of... Expand

      This was my second dose of the sci-fi musical this year (which I find interesting since I didn't know that the genre existed prior to Yellow Tape's Warpstar Sexysquad). In Faster Than the Speed of Light, I found the music to be well-composed and the story line interesting. The three primaries gave their all and Clock provided some humorous interludes. I felt that the love triangle gave some great potential but left me wanting more of a conclusion at the end. The character chemistry and set design are great though and I look forward to seeing future collaborations between the creators Royce and Roy. Collapse

      Salvage Vanguard's latest foray fostering new work by local artists is the sci-fi musical "Faster Than the Speed of Light." The original piece by Jeremy Roye and Stanley Roy follows Atom's journey from his creation, through his relationship with the Barbarella-esque Serena, to the excitement he finds at the club Lovers & Liars. Strong vocal performances by the leads accompany creative orchestration including bassoon, strings, and...yes...ukeleles. Combining staple musical theatre elements with whimsical design and SVT's signature video elements, the show is an enjoyable - if not quite universe-shattering - exploration of growth and self-discovery.
