    This special Legislative Reception at the Bob Bullock Museum precedes the next day's Texas Medal of Arts Awards Ceremony at the Long Center.

    The Awards spotlights and celebrates the creative excellence, exemplary talents and outstanding contributions by Texans in selected categories, ultimately featuring the best in Texas.  The Awards honor citizens who have achieved greatness through their creative talents as well as those whose philanthropic generosity has opened doors to artistic opportunitiy for Texans of all ages.

    Honoring Laura W. Bush (Standing Ovation Award), Robert Rauschenberg (Lifetime Achievement), Lake/Flato Architects (Architecture), James Dick (Arts Education), Anheuser Busch Companies (Corporate Arts Patron), Robert Rodriguez (Film), Edith O'Donnell (Individual Arts Patron), T.R. Fehrenbach (Literary Arts), Austin City Limits (Multimedia), Clint Black (Music), Betty Buckley (Theatre Arts), and Keith Carter (Visual Arts). 

    Performances by Los Lonely Boys, Kilgore Rangerettes, Betty Buckley, James Dick and Young Master, Stephanie Chen, and Ray Benson (and Friends).
