Austin Playhouse proudly presents Linda Griffiths’ witty, wild, and stunning new comedy, Age of Arousal. Fusing the political battle of the 19th century suffragettes with the personal battles of the sexes, Age of Arousal creates a unique world to explore love, desire, and the cost of equality. Populating this world are six compelling characters brought to life by some of Austin’s most accomplished actors. The characters in Age of Arousal often speak their inner thoughts aloud, revealing secret desires and fears. This allows audiences to peek behind the Victorian propriety of the era and see the characters as flesh and blood people with real yearnings, disappointments, and dreams. Age of Arousal is filled with comedy, rich characters, an incredibly fun and witty script, and the most accessible and moving look at the women’s suffrage movement ever put on stage.
