Blue Lapis Light presents its latest site-specific aerial dance work, Impermanence, in June 2009 on the J.J. Pickle Federal Building in downtown Austin. Impermanence continues Blue Lapis Light’s trend of transforming architecture into a grandiose yet meditational stage where dancers float and bound through the air. Using ropes, harnesses, cloth, and other apparatus to dance high above the ground, Blue Lapis Light brings splendor and an unconventional beauty to spaces that are typically utilitarian. In this latest awe-inspiring performance, dancers will fly over the 150ft surface of the Federal Building. Featuring a collaboration of dancers on silks, rappellers, lighting/sound designers, riggers and more, Impermanence speaks to the fragility of our times: and the need to be aware of the significance and beauty of each moment.
