Samba de Gafieira Workshop

Brief description:Discover Samba de Gafieira, the lively and elegant partner dance also known as the "tango of Brazil". This workshop in will introduce the basics of the latest craze to hit Latin ballroom and social dancing. The course will be taught by Brazilian Gafieira sensation, Ananda Mounts. All are welcome to attend, with or without a dance partner.

About the instructor:
A dancer since the age of 5, Ananda Mounts has performed with various Rio de Janeiro samba schools including Mocidade, Portela, Unidos de Tijuca, and Mangueira. As a dancer and teacher of Gafieira, she has collaborated with professional, top-level Brazilian choreographers such as? Jimmy Oliveira, Jaime Arouxa and Carlinhos de Jesus. As a performer and choreographer in her own right, Ananda has worked with Dudu Nobre, Seu Jorge, Zeca Pagodinho, Chico Buarque, Alcione, and Djavan. Her performances and choreographed works include the Queen's Pageant for Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, the Teatro Municipal (Rio) and multiple appearances on MTV Brazil.
Of all her professional successes as a performer and choreographer, Ananda's greatest satisfaction is teaching in the dance studio. She views each class as an opportunity to bring the culture of the "Carioca" to her students, as she has done for the last two years at the California Brazil Camp and at various locations throughout the San Francisco Bay area.
