THEATRE
'J.B.'
December 4-December 6, 2008
Add Review/Comment
'J.B.' is a modern retelling of the Book of Job from the Old Testament, and takes place in a run-down circus at the close of World War II. The play-within-a-play is performed by circus workers who take on the roles of God and Satan. 'J.B.', by English playwright and poet Archibald Macleish, took the New York stage by storm in 1958, winning both the Tony for Best New Play and the Pulitzer Prize. However, the play, told entirely in verse, was seen as difficult to produce, and has since faded from many memories. Therefore, if you want to see this rarely performed play, this may be one of your only chances. The play is being directed as a senior Capstone project by MacTheatre senior Amanda Perry.
