Enjoy this very special treat when Austin Museum of Art, Art House at the Jones Center and Mexic-Arte Museum open their doors to the public — for free —as part of Austin's Get Your Art On celebration! As all three art museums are right downtown on Congress Avenue, you can easily stroll from one museum to another to delight your eyes and enrich your feelings with these very exciting exhibitions:

At Austin Museum of Art at 806 Congress Avenue
    MODERN ART. MODERN LIVES  THEN+NOW
is a  two-part exhibition that explores how modern and contemporary artists merge art and life. This unprecedented exhibition of works by Émile Bernard, Pierre Bonnard, Eugène Delacroix, Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Vincent van Gogh, and Edouard Vuillard, among others, offers a unique opportunity to examine how modern art and modern lives intertwined.

At Arthouse at the Jones Center, 700 Congress Avenue
    RESET/PLAY
is an exhibition exploring the influence  and inspiration of video games on contemporary art.  Questioning the history, control mechanisms, political and art-historical implications of electronic games, RESET/PLAY assembles a formidable group of fifteen international artists who have made a significant impact on this growing post-game artistic sub-genre.

At Mexic-Arte Museum, 419 Congress Avenue
YOUNG LATINO ARTISTS 13: EVERYTHING'S GOING TO BE OKAY
illustrates how moments of vulnerability can turn into our greatest strengths. The artists in this exhibition do not define themselves by the blood running through their veins or their ancestral history, but rather their personal histories.  This exhibition, in its 13th year, features and challenges young Latino artists under the age of 35 to create and present their vision in a reexamination of social and aesthetic norms with new and experimental media.

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS ALTAR EXHIBITION
features traditional and contemporary altars created by the Austin community in remembrance of friends, relatives, and heroes. Mexic-Arte Museum will feature a special altar in Guanajuato style including a 3-foot pan de muerto in the shape of a mummy, created by Jesus Becerra from La Mexicana Bakery. Please join us at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 23, for a special bread and sugar skull presentation by master baker Mr. Becerra.
