Teatro Vivo presents an engaging comedy that explores lives out of balance in the wake of Austin’s gentrification. Written by Raul Garza, winner of the 2007 National Latino Playwrights Award, Fantasmaville sparkles with entertaining dialogue and authentic characters (including an advice-spinning “Mexican Spirit Guide” in the form of a human-sized raccoon). Directed by David Yeakle.

      I never miss a Teatro Vivo production, so I was excited to see this new play. Wow! It was very different, but very,very good.I especially enjoyed the character, Flor. I live in east Austin and this character, as well as Freddy and Gustavo, older barfly types, were very true to life and hilarious. It is good, que no? Check it out. Collapse

      I thoroughly enjoyed this play! This is a little different style of theater then what Teatro Vivo normally does, but it was still the great Latino comedy with a thoughtful message and the entertaining actors I expect to see. Very different/cool animated scenery and great music by Austin musician David Garza. Go see it! Collapse

      A friend recommended that I go and see this production and I am so glad I attended. The story is very relevant to Austin's gentrification issues and offered a look at the human face to the situation.... Expand

      A friend recommended that I go and see this production and I am so glad I attended. The story is very relevant to Austin's gentrification issues and offered a look at the human face to the situation. The acting was great and the use animation in the scenery was quite delightful. Loved the Raccoon character and the two old guys in the bar. Collapse
