August Evening follows an aging undocumented worker, Jaime, and his young widowed daughter-in-law, Lupe, as their lives are thrown into upheaval. Filmed on location in rural south Texas, August Evening is inspired by naturalistic 1950's world cinema and is set in a world of humming cicadas, chicken farms, ethereal music, gentle glances, and rustling leaves. August Evening received two grants from the Austin Film Society's Texas Filmmakers' Production Fund and participated in AFS's Narratives-in-Progress program. The film went on to win the coveted $50,000 Target Filmmaker Award at the Los Angeles Film Festival and took home the Cassavetes Award at the 2008 Independent Spirit Awards.

Special Sneak Preview for AFS Members Only. Registration required to attend.
August Evening opens its public run Oct. 10.
