    Level 1 - Beginning Improvisation

Class Description: Have fun, meet new people and learn to improvise in the Hideout's fun, low-pressure classes. This six-week Beginning Workshop is designed for anyone and everyone who wants to loosen up, be more spontaneous and learn to take risks on stage and in life. No prior experience necessary. Each week you'll play games and explore a challenging variety of improv exercises that unleash your natural creativity and humor. Our work is inspired by Canadian improv guru Keith Johnstone (author of Impro and Impro for Storytellers) so even if you've done some improv in the past, you'll enjoy the Hideout's unique, inspiring approach.

About The Instructor: Andy Crouch has performed improv all across the country, read (almost) every book about improv ever written and worked extensively with superstar improv guru Keith Johnstone. He is dean of the Heroes School of Improv Comedy and artistic director of the Hideout Theatre. Andy has worked with The University of Texas McCombs School of Business, the Episcopal Theological Seminary of the Southwest and many of the fine adults and children of Austin, Texas. A graduate of the Plan II honors program at the University of Texas, Andy is a professional copy editor, comic artist and theater manager. In his free time he directs free Shakespeare. In the rest of his free time he does yoga.

About The Hideout: The Hideout Theatre has been offering Austin's best professional improv comedy since 1999 in the heart of downtown. With more than five shows a week, they use audience suggestions to create theatre that delights and inspires. Whether you're watching a competitive evening of games and scenes or a full-length improvised play, The Hideout company players will amaze you with their quick-witted, truthful characters and compelling stories. Students of The Hideout have gone on to form Austin's most-respected improv troupes, as well as perform and teach around the country. Register at www.AustinImprovClasses.com
