Brass Ring, an original play written by Shanon Weaver and directed by Melissa Livingston, is a noir story of hit men anti-heroes Ervin (Kenneth Wayne Bradley) and Wyatt (Joel Citty). The two deal with memories of their protégé, Asher (Shanon Weaver), with cynical wit and denial. The reality of the men's' long-standing brotherhood is suddenly exposed when secrets and betrayal are brought to light by femme fatale, Jazz (Lynn Mikeska). After the shocking reality check, there's a good chance somebody won't make it out alive. Brass Ring carries the theme of A Chick & A Dude's award-winning play, HIT.

      Gripping, like down-market Harold Pinter or Sam Shepard. Danger, barren stage and threat. Playwright Shannon Weaver calls back the hit men Ervin and Wyatt of her 2003 drama “Hit” and the actors... Expand

      Gripping, like down-market Harold Pinter or Sam Shepard. Danger, barren stage and threat. Playwright Shannon Weaver calls back the hit men Ervin and Wyatt of her 2003 drama “Hit” and the actors creating them. In interminable waiting, Ervin is on a fierce slow burn. They dialogue with abrupt vulgarity and re-encounter Jasmine, from the past. In split time we witness earlier days with a growing sense of doom. A failed assassination, multiple betrayals, and a fatal shooting. First: this duo of actors is good enough to take your breath away. They wear their characters as if they were tattooed in their souls. Erwin shifts between deadly, still concentration and violent action. His partner Wyatt, yes, a murderer, is perceptive, vulnerable and deeply human. Second: what a shame about the script!       Saw this show opening night.Aside from some questionable pre-show music, the show was great. Well executed, high energy acting, and a general sense of fun being had on stage. All in all, a great night... Expand
