For The Bible Tells Me So
March 25, 2008
Add Review/CommentThis screening features director Dan Karslake live as well as a discussion panel after the film. This provocative, entertaining documentary concisely reconciles homosexuality and a literal interpretation of Biblical scripture, and in the process reveals that Church-sanctioned anti-gay bias is based almost solely upon a significant (and often malicious) misinterpretation of the Bible. Through the experiences of five very normal, very Christian, very American families -- including those of former House Majority Leader Richard Gephardt and Episcopal Bishop Gene Robinson -- we discover how insightful people of faith handle the realization of having a gay child. The brief discussion panel after the film will include director/producer Daniel Karslake, as well as local faith leaders. The panel discussion is meant to extend the discussion introduced by the film to the local community and to instigate a local dialogue about the role religion plays in the anti-gay bias found around the country, and particularly in Texas. Helpful Information: All patrons must be 18 years or older or be accompanied by a parent. Children under 6 are not admitted at any time.
